The drift racers worth your thumb this year
Drift racing on a phone lives or dies on one thing: does holding a slide feel good? Too twitchy and you spin out constantly; too soft and there's no skill to it. The games I keep coming back to sit right in the middle.
The trick most good ones share is a boost meter tied to drift length. It turns every corner into a small gamble — take it wider for a longer slide and more boost, or play it safe and keep speed. That little decision, over and over, is what makes a track fun to replay.
If you're new to the genre, start on tilt controls off. On-screen buttons give you more consistent input while you learn how each car breaks loose. Once you trust the handling, tilt can feel more natural, but it's a lot to juggle up front.
And please, judge these games on a fresh charge. Racers are hungry, and a phone in low-power mode will throttle the frame rate right when you need it steady.
